The top interior design trends according to Pinterest

What will the house look like in the coming months? What will be the most popular colors? And what will be the most recreated home decorating inspirations? That's revealed, in part, by Pinterest Predicts 2024: the annual report from Pinterest - a visual search engine that now has over 482 million monthly users worldwide.

Divided into categories, the report is based on searches users have made on the platform to find ideas, images and suggestions: in recent years, around 80% of predictions made have proven correct. Here are this year's predictions for interior decoration and design.

#1 Aquatic architecture

One of the trends Pinterest has identified for 2024 is aquatic architecture. A trend based on the growing fascination with water, fish and underwater nature among both Gen X and Millennials, which the platform predicts will lead to the proliferation of aquariums, large and small, and turtle terrariums. A prediction supported by the increase in several user searches: from those for "designing small aquariums", which increased by 245%, to those for "aquarium", which even registered +410%.

#2 Pop-up kitchen

In recent years, the kitchen has become the center of the home: the space that is shared. An ever-evolving environment, always functional but also fun, which according to Pinterest Predicts will be particularly sparkling and joyful this year. A source of good vibes with a pop-up kitchen option. Second-hand items and vintage appliances are a must, according to the platform's analysts.

#3 Coffee-mania

Between chalkboards and bar-style decorations, café-style will be one of the trendy interior design trends in the coming months, according to Pinterest Predicts 2024. Suffice it to say that the search for "cafeteria style ideas" boasts an increase of 1125% and the search with the words "cafeteria aesthetics" recorded an increase of +820%.

#4 Gothic western style

Having also noticed a significant increase in searches for "western bed ideas", "cottage style room ideas", "gothic western style" and other similar ideas, Pinterest also included gothic western style in the possible trends for 2024.
